The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Press Council (NPC), on behalf of the Honourable Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris (FNIPR), delivered a compelling message of hope, economic inclusion, and national development at the Town Hall and Sensitisation Event for the ₦200 billion Presidential Intervention Fund held on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at Hogis Royale, State Housing Estate, Calabar, Cross River State.
The event, one of several being held across the country, is part of a broader effort under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to raise awareness about the strategic intervention designed to empower Nigerian businesses and drive inclusive economic recovery. The Executive Secretary represented the Honourable Minister, who emphasized the importance of community engagement and transparency in delivering the objectives of the initiative.
In the speech delivered on his behalf, the Minister praised President Tinubu for his visionary leadership and the Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, for his tireless oversight in ensuring the programme’s success. “This initiative is a bold step towards inclusive economic recovery, wealth creation, and national development,” the Minister stated.
Highlighting the human impact of the ₦200 billion intervention, the Honourable Minister noted that the fund is not just about statistics or policy, but about real people — women in rural communities, young entrepreneurs in cities, and manufacturers seeking to grow and create jobs. “It is about restoring hope and dignity to hardworking Nigerians,” he said.
The Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation, he added, is intensifying efforts to ensure that accurate and accessible information about the fund reaches every corner of Nigeria. The ministry is actively engaging with traditional and new media, community leaders, and civil society organisations to prevent misinformation and ensure inclusivity.
“In an age where misinformation travels faster than the truth, it is our duty to create a transparent, people-driven communication framework,” the Minister’s speech affirmed. “Every Nigerian deserves to know about this opportunity and how to access it.”
He described the town hall meeting not just as an event, but a national dialogue — a space for honest feedback, trust-building, and collaboration between the government and the people. The call was clear: Nigerians must seize the opportunity; the media must continue to inform responsibly; and beneficiaries must use the funds wisely to grow sustainable businesses.
The Honourable Minister concluded with a call to unity and shared responsibility: “Together, with programmes like this, we will turn the corner towards sustainable prosperity.”
