The Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Press Council (NPC), Dr. Dili Ezughah, made a strong case for national unity while being honored with the prestigious Sir Ahmadu Bello Platinum Award of Jakadan Zaman Lafiya Matasan Arewa Neijeriya (Ambassador of Peace to the Northern Youths). The award was presented by the Coalition of Northern Youth Forum of Nigeria (CNYFN) in recognition of his contributions to peacebuilding, media development, and national cohesion.



Speaking at the award presentation, Dr. Ezughah emphasized the crucial role of the media in fostering unity, dispelling misinformation, and promoting peaceful coexistence across Nigeria. He reiterated that responsible journalism and ethical reporting remain key drivers in bridging societal divides and strengthening democracy.
He further commended the Coalition of Northern Youth Forum of Nigeria for its dedication to national peacebuilding and youth engagement, stressing the importance of collective efforts in ensuring a stable and progressive nation. He reaffirmed the Nigerian Press Council’s commitment to supporting media initiatives that promote national harmony and responsible journalism.
The event brought together stakeholders from the media, civil society, and youth organizations, all reinforcing the shared vision of using dialogue, advocacy, and responsible communication as tools for sustainable peace and development in Nigeria.
